Our
Structure and Board
Our official incorporated name is Youth With A Mission – Bishop,
and we are a 501(c)(3) religious non-profit corporation. The name
Sea & Summit Expeditions is now a “dba” of YWAM – Bishop.
Though we have our own corporation, we are in every way a part of
the larger mission of Youth With A Mission. Our Legal Board members
typically consist of one third YWAM – Bishop staff leaders,
one third local area residence, and one third from the YWAM regional
leadership, and we submit ourselves to the authority of the greater
YWAM leadership. This division of thirds allows a balanced oversight
by the ministry staff leadership, the local community, and our parent
mission of YWAM. No one in leadership in all three areas receives
any form of financial remuneration – all serve voluntarily
because they believe in the value of this ministry, its staff, and
it’s vision.
In addition, the staff
leadership that are members of the Legal Board are also the members
of our Base Eldership. These members
help steer the organization’s vision, program decisions,
and daily issues. The members of the Legal Board that are from
the local community double as the Director’s Advisory Board.
These individuals meet with the Director regularly to help him
think through major and/or difficult decisions, and hold him
to a level of accountability. Beyond these three leadership teams,
we have staff that oversee the various ministries of our base.
